A Secret Marriage, A Runaway Bride and Girlfriend Dumping - Hollywood Men in the Spotlight

While Hugh Hefner’s bride-to-be became a runaway bride and GeorgeClooney said so-long to his girlfriend, it was 007 James Bond, played by DanielCraig,  who got the girl, just like in the James Bond movies. Craig had no problems meeting his girlfriend at the altar. In a very private ceremony with only four people in attendance, Craig and fiancé Rachel Weisz said, “I Do” and promised to live happily ever after.

I wonder if Clooney was ever offered the role of 007 and maybe turned it down because he knew he’d eventually have to end up with the girl.

Craig has played the role of Bond since Pierce Brosnon stepped down as James Bond. The 007 Bond movies added to Craig’s name include Quantum of Solace which he was nominated for the Empire Award for Best Actor. He stars in the sci-fi drama movie Cowboys & Aliens which opens in theatres July 29th.

Congratulations to Craig and Rachel Weisz and Hollywood Daze wishes them well as they start their life together.

Is Cowboy & Aliens the next movie on your "Summer 2011 Movies To See?"

Hollywood Says Good-bye to the Greatest Detective Ever – Peter Falk

Long before there was Detective Monk, the television audience was entertained by Lieutenant Columbo solving the who-done-it murder mystery.  Peter Falk brought the character of Columbo to life on the small screen with his rumpled raincoat, old car, his hoarse voice and smoking those cigars. However, it was that notebook that recorded all the details and helped bring the murderer(s) to justice.  With his forgetful memory and constant interrupting Columbo usually irritated the suspects to the point where they confessed just so they wouldn’t have to put up with him anymore.  Columbo was on the air 1971 - 1978 and made a comeback from 1989 – 2003.

Peter Falk was an award winning actor whose career started on stage and moved to early film and then television. His numerous credits behind his name are an inspiration to many. His later years were claimed by dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease.  Falk passed away on June 23, 2011.

Hollywood was certainly entertained and amazed by this fun loving detective that he could capture audiences for two decades.  Read more here about Peter Falk's brilliant career.

Single, Married, Divorced, Dating and Now Single Again – George Clooney Watch Out for Those Girls

Hook, line and sinker! She almost had him walking down the isle. I wonder if George Clooney feels like the human yo-yo?  Up and down again with relationships, this time splitting from his girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis of over two years. She still wants to get married but he wants to remain single. Clooney who is now 50 and his girlfriend age 32 will remain friends, but are moving on in their lives.

Clooney an academy award winning actor might be best known for his role as Dr. Doug Ross a pediatrician in the television drama series E.R.  I have to ask what’s up with remaining single? Is it really that cool to remain single?

Memories of a Simpler Time and Place - The Dick Van Dyke Show

Songs are the filters of our memories. When we hear a song we can be transported back to a simpler time and place, like in this memory jogging song where Dick Van Dyke sings the forgotten lyrics to the "Dick Van Dyke" television show as Matt Lauer's guest on the today show.

She’s So California – Miss California Crowned Miss USA

Beauty Queen Crown
OMG! – a local San Fernando Valley girl from Sherman Oaks, CA, representing California is crowned Miss USA 2011.

People may think Southern California girls who live in the shadow of Hollywood are all about having maids, and living in castles on the hill.  Really, we don’t all live like Paris Hilton carrying little dogs around in our purse without a care in the world or a thought in our head. We are just hard-working girls with a generous spirit and independence that leads us to get out there and do for ourselves rather than waiting on the hired help.

Alysa Campanella, age 21, proved how much she is a local valley girl. She may have been crowned Miss USA and walked down a red carpet, but she drove herself to the event from the Valley to Las Vegas, a five hour drive. where the event was held at Planet Hollywood. Arriving at the event she drove past the valet parking and chose self-parking.

This song/video from country music sensation Gary Allen says it all. "She's So California."

Runaway Bride – Hugh Heffner and His Bride to Be Call It Quits

He said, she said. It sounds like a country music song as Hugh Heffner says to his bride, “Keep the ring, the dog and the car.”  Or did his bride give him an ultimatum that if he walked out that door she wouldn’t take him back?

Did his bride to be run away or did Hugh Heffner decide he wanted to go fishing?

Here’s a song/video from country music singer Brad Paisley that explains it all, “I’m Gonna Miss Her.”

Will Hollywood Return to the Monster Vampire - The Final Victim by Larry Jukofsky

Sesame Street's Count Dracula
Was Sesame Street in the 1970’s with Count Dracula, the puppet/muppet that taught a generation of young children how to count responsible for taking away the grotesque factor of vampires? Humanizing vampires opened up Hollywood to the gorgeous vampires of today.  From Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Blade-the Series, Moonlight, Kindred-The Embraced, to the current shows on television, True Blood, Twilight and The Vampire Diaries. The vampire is now sexier than ever, that is, until author Larry Jukofsky takes us on a twist that returns the vampire into the grotesque monster and brings horror to one small town when a local philanthropist is murdered.

Read the Excerpt

For some reason, Rudy was uncomfortable tonight, physically and mentally. Transporting a coffin was a new experience. It frightened him. Superstition played a large role in his limited educational life. Here it was dark, stormy, and he was delivering a corpse. The route took him through wooded and desolate country, with hanging Spanish moss casting eerie shadows as he drove by. His bright lights were on, only being dimmed when a car came from the opposite direction. The lightning and thunder added to the unease caused by the downpour. Rudy’s grasp of the steering wheel was quite tight. The rhythmical beat of the windshield wiper was his only entertainment as the radio had not worked in quite some time. Rudy was horrified when a bolt of lightning seemed to strike the ground quiet close to his truck. It took considerable effort to hold the wheel firmly. Through the rear view mirror he could see no flames and concluded no damage had been done to his cargo. The dead guy in back wouldn’t mind a jolt or two anyhow, would he?
Thinking the better of his decision to continue driving in this downpour, he pulled over to the side of the highway. It was when he turned off the motor that he realized he was not alone in the truck. He had a passenger seated alongside him.
