One of the things about living in the shadows of Hollywood is that you begin to recognize the background settings for some of the television shows. Usually, the television shows film in and around Hollywood, never going far from the studios. A lot of outside locations for filming are located in the San Fernando Valley.
Tonight's show that premiered on Channel 4, Knight Rider was no exception. A sequel to the 1983 Knight Rider show which starred actor David Hasselhoff as Michael Knight and KITT the car that Hasselhoff drove and brought the bad guys to justice and closed the show by driving off into the sunset in search of the next bad guy. When the show debuted in 1983 the voice of KITT was the actor William Daniels, quite possibly best known for his role as Dr. Mark Craig (1982-1988) in St. Elsewhere, medical drama.
If you're familiar with the valley you might have recognized that the library where the scientists daughter ran into and then ran down the outside stairs was the Valley's own University, the University of Southern California at Northridge not Stanford University as they claimed on the show. Even though the Professor was confronted by the people that were chasing her, she managed to escape in the car appropriately named KITT and was chased down sidewaks in and around buildings also on the CSUN campus grounds.
Sometimes, knowing all this takes the surprise out the chase.
