Thursday Thirteen - Hollywood Stars and The Valley They Called Home



The San Fernando Valley, north of Los Angeles was the place to live if you were a Hollywood actor or actress from the early days of film to the current days. It was a serene valley away from the hustle and bustle of the lights, camera and action of Hollywood. Sometimes, Hollywood’s famous would hide behind big gated fences to maintain their privacy and others we were proud to call our next door neighbor.


Bob Hope (Entertainer and Actor) – longest residency in Toluca Lake

Lucille Ball (Actress) - televisions most beloved red-head and star of the I Love Lucy television show (1951 – 1957)

Marion Ross – (Actress) America’s favorite mom in the television show “Happy Days”

Henry Winkler (Actor, The Fonz in the television series “Happy Days”

Gene Autry – (Singer/Actor)

Sandra Tsing Loh, (Author) - “A Year in Van Nuys” and radio show host for The Loh Down on Science on the radio station KPCC

Britney Spears (Singer/Actress)

Richie Valens (Singer) -“La Bamba” and “Donna.” Tragically, he died in a plane crash at age 17.

Hollywood Trivia and Fun Facts - Twins of the Year



Good Morning L.A.! In the land of sand, surf and sun the forecast for the inland valleys is a high of 93 and a low of 64. Of course, it’s always cooler at the beaches.

Are you aware that there are 86,400 seconds in every 24 hours? How do you plan to spend your day?

Do you remember 1974 and the car gas lines in Los Angeles? The numbers on your license plate even or odd determined the day of the month when you could get gas. Did you get gas on even or odd numbered days?

Should I stay or should I go? David Duchovny, star of the new movie X-Files and his wife, actress Tea Leoni listed their 6,578 sq. ft. home in Malibu, California for $12M, then just as abruptly pulled the home off the market.

Have you heard? Hollywood’s celebrity couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are the new parents to their very anticipated twins. A boy Knox Leon and a girl called Vivienne Marcheline are receiving more press than even the rising gas and food prices around the nation.

Hollywood Comes to the Valley – “Mrs. C is that you?” A familiar face around town is that of Marion Ross of “Happy Days” Far from the role of television’s most lovable mom, Mrs. Cunningham or “Mrs. C.” on Happy Days, Marion lives on her own Happy Days farm in Woodland Hills. Do you remember her first television role as the Irish maid in CBS’ “Life with Father?”
