Celebrating New Years Eve by Candlelight

It could have been written as a scene for a Hollywood Movie when two hours before the stroke of midnight our house went completley dark. Imagine celebrating New Year's Eve with candles, lanterns and walking around with flashlights, but that's how we spent it. The evening had started out pleasantly with a dinner party for family and friends to bring in the new year. We all planned to gather around and toast the New Year at the stroke of midnight while watching the ball drop from Time Square on the Dick Clark's New Years Rocking Eve television special from New York. However, if this were the Hollywood Movie that this script was written for the lights would have come back on at one minute before midnight in time to see the ball drop and the night would have ended on a pleasant note. Instead we stared at the blank TV screen and quietly said Happy New Year to each other.

The electricity wasn't restored until the early hours of the morning.

Thanks, though to modern technology and youtube video on of our dinner guests sent us the video of the ball dropping in New York's Times Square and although 12 hours late we did watch it today.

LOL, bless your heart. I bet you'll never say hey what did we do last New Year's Eve?

Hmmm, now THIS is enough to get a girl's wheels turning. ;) At least you were in good company!

Especially a mystery writer's wheels, hey Marta. Sorry you missed out.

I've never been one to care much about the whole ball dropping thing. I try to pay attention to the clock, but usually it's about 12:15 or so before I notice the New Year. Whoops!
